Dance of the Vampires returns for a spellbinding summer season in Budapest

Following a triumphant return in early 2026, Hungary’s beloved gothic musical prepares to enchant audiences once again in a highly anticipated summer run.

The acclaimed Hungarian production of Dance of the Vampires is set to rise again this summer, continuing its remarkable legacy as one of the country’s most enduring musical theatre successes. Produced by PS Produkció Zenés Színháza, the show has captivated audiences since its 2007 premiere and remains a cornerstone of Hungary’s theatrical landscape.

The announcement follows a successful series of performances scheduled for July 2026 at the newly renovated Magyar Színház—the very venue where the production first debuted nearly two decades ago. Returning to this iconic stage marks both a nostalgic milestone and a renewed chapter for the production as it approaches its 20th season.

Based on the cult classic film by Roman Polanski, the musical blends dark comedy, romance, and spectacle into a uniquely immersive experience. Over the years, it has amassed more than 360 sold-out performances and drawn hundreds of thousands of spectators, many of whom return year after year to relive its distinctive mix of haunting melodies, humor, and dramatic flair.

Producer Simon Edit talked about the emotional resonance of the production, describing it as more than just a theatrical performance: “Dance of the Vampires is not merely a show—it is a community held together by the magic of music, visuals, and storytelling.
