Jesus Christ Superstar returns to Vienna this Easter for two concerts

The concerts will be held at Wiener Stadthalle, Hall F in Vienna, Austria for two performances on Sunday 5 April and Monday 6 April 2026, both starting at 19:00.
Presented in a semi-concert format by producer and director Lukas Perman, this production reimagines the iconic rock opera by Sir Andrew Lloyd Webber (music) and Tim Rice (lyrics) with a fresh aesthetic for the Easter season. Since its debut in 1971, Jesus Christ Superstar has become a staple of musical theatre, famed for its fusion of rock energy and dramatic narrative, featuring enduring songs such as I Don’t Know How to Love Him, Gethsemane, and Heaven on Their Minds.
At the heart of this year’s performances is Drew Sarich in the title role of Jesus. The American-born performer, based in Austria and celebrated internationally for his work on Broadway and in the West End, brings his seasoned interpretation to one of the most demanding roles in the repertoire. Sarich’s return to the role follows previous acclaimed runs, and he leads an ensemble supported by an 11-piece live band under the musical direction of Christian Frank.
Opposite him, Serkan Kaya takes on the pivotal role of Judas Iscariot, bringing vocal power and dramatic intensity to one of the musical’s most complex and emotionally charged characters.
Performed in English without German subtitles, the production emphasises musical intensity and emotional depth, inviting audiences to experience the timeless story of Jesus of Nazareth in a powerful, evocative setting. Tickets remain available, with pricing varying by seating category.
