Singin’ in the Rain is coming to the Royal Exchange Theatre for Christmas

The Manchester venue just announced its Christmas show
A charismatic, tap-dancing extravaganza SINGIN’ IN THE RAIN is the much-loved story of the highs and lows of Hollywood as a radical move is made from silent movies to the ‘talkies’ and all told through the eyes of the infamous Don Lockwood, Lina Lamont, Cosmo Brown and Kathy Selden.
Director Raz Shaw returns to the Exchange following his productions of THE PRODUCERS; THE GREATEST PLAY IN THE HISTORY OF THE WORLD and WIT, with a musical that is packed with iconic songs such as Make ‘em laugh, Good Morning, Moses and of course the iconic title tune Singin’ In The Rain. Seamlessly blending song and dance the audience will find themselves in the heart of the action of this much-loved musical on the Exchange’s iconic in-the-round stage.
The musical is based on the classic Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer film from the screenplay by Betty Comden and Adolph Green, songs by Nacio Herb Brown and Arthur Freed.
Louis Gaunt as Don Lockwood, Laura Baldwin as Lina Lamont, Danny Collins as Cosmo Brown and Carly Mercedes Dyer as Kathy Selden will lead the cast, joined by Carl Sanderson as Roscoe Dexter, Clancy Ryan as Dora Bailey and Julius D’Silva as RF Simpson.
Completing the cast are Tanisha-Mae Brown, Adam Davidson, Frances Dee, Zac Frieze, Jessica Keable, Gregor McCann, Benjamin Mundy, Ria Tanaka and Thomas Walton.
Set and costume design by Richard Kent, lighting design by Jack Knowles, sound design by Yvonne Gilbert, choreography by Alistair David and music supervisor, orchestrations and additional arrangements by Matthew Malone.
The show will run from 29th November to 18th January
