The Lake Thun Festival in Switzerland announced Disney’s The Hunchback of Notre Dame musical

The musical will run on the breathtaking open air theatre on the lake from 9th July to 23rd August

In the summer of 2025, the famous Hunchback of Notre Dame will come directly from the Seine in Paris to Lake Thun. The Thunerseespiele will present the internationally successful Disney musical from July 9 to August 23, 2025, on the lake stage – newly staged in front of the Eiger, Mönch, and Jungfrau mountains.

The Hunchback of Notre Dame is a moving story of love, courage, and humanity. The musical tells the story of the bell ringer Quasimodo, who grows up shielded from the rest of the world in the bell tower of Notre Dame Cathedral in Paris. He was taken in as a baby by the evil Archdeacon Frollo and has lived a solitary life in the tower ever since. When he sneaks into the annual Feast of Fools, he gets into trouble. Only the courageous Esmeralda stands up for him. When she becomes the target of the vengeful Frollo, Quasimodo rescues her and hides her in his church tower. In the highly emotional finale, Quasimodo realizes what it means to be a monster and what it takes to become human.
