West End cast recording The Devil Wears Prada has been announced.
The original cast recording is set to be released on CD, Digital and LP formats on 19th September 2025 via Island EMI.
Fresh out of college, aspiring journalist Andy scores a job at the prestigious Runway magazine working for fashion’s most powerful and terrifying icon — editor-in-chief Miranda Priestly. Sacrificing her personal life to meet Miranda’s impossible demands, Andy finds herself seduced by the glamorous world she once despised. How far will she go to succeed... and will it be worth selling her soul to get what she’s always wanted.
Music by Elton John, with lyrics by Shaina Taub & Mark Sonnenblick, book by Lauren Weisberger & Kate Wetherhead and direction & choreography by three-time Tony Award winner Jerry Mitchell (Kinky Boots, Legally Blonde, Pretty Woman, Hairspray). Based on the Novel by Lauren Weisberger and the Twentieth Century Studios Motion Picture. THE DEVIL WEARS PRADA is “dressed to impress” (Guardian) and “theatrical haute couture” (Digital Spy).
The CD and Digital release contains all 18 songs from the musical recorded by the original West End Cast, which is led by Vanessa Williams as Miranda and joined by Matt Henry, MBE as Nigel, Georgie Buckland as Andy, Amy Di Bartolomeo as Emily, Rhys Whitfield as Nate and James Darch as Christian. The recording contains two previously unheard Elton John Original Demos. The LP will include a selection of 12 tracks.
Elton John said: “The subject matter of The Devil Wears Prada absolutely screams out for music. It’s been one of my favourite films of the last 20 years, so when the conversation came up about me writing the music for the stage version, it was an absolute no-brainer.
“I’m always looking forward, never backwards, so it absolutely had to be a modern, contemporary score. The best musicals leave people with a joyous feeling, and that’s completely how I felt writing this. ‘It has been wonderful to see the response and success of the stage show and hearing the fantastic reactions to the songs.”
