Matilda the Musical extension and new cast have been announced

The show extended its run until May 2025

Matilda The Musical is a multi-award-winning musical from the Royal Shakespeare Company, inspired by the beloved book by the incomparable Roald Dahl.

With a book by Dennis Kelly and original songs by Tim Minchin, Matilda The Musical is the story of an extraordinary little girl who, armed with a vivid imagination and a sharp mind, dares to take a stand and change her own destiny.

The show has won 100 international awards, including 24 for Best Musical.

Three new Matildas – Anna Deikalo, Ava Posniak and Sophia Saravanan – will join Estella Evans in the leading role.

The other new young performers joining the company are Nesim Adnan, Ryo Appadu, Chloe Boyle, Amelia-Grace Cambridge, Caoimhe Fisher, Jesamine-Bleu Gibbs, Matthias Green, Daisy Jeffcoate, Kaylen Luke, Lola McCourtie, Yvie Moore, Harry Newby, Alex Prior, Frankie Treadaway and Marnie Rae Warren-Baker. They will join Jake Durant, Max Garlick, Lilia Guinoubi, Coco-Lili Hodder, Zarian Marcel Obatarhe, Elliott Marsden, Toryn O’Callaghan, Kristiano Ricardo, Harriet Rogers, and Archie Smith from the existing cast. The young casting was done by Amy Beadel for Jessica Ronane Casting.

The adult cast will remain the same:  Rakesh Boury as Mr Wormwood, Kieran Hill as Miss Trunchbull, Amy Ellen Richardson as Mrs Wormwood and Lydia White as Miss Honey. The ensemble members are Esme Bacalla-Hayes, Thea Bunting, Ronan Burns, Ella Caldwell, Stan Doughty, Nolan Edwards, Karina Hind, Aaron Jenkins, Sam Lathwood, Sean Lopeman, Ruairidh McDonald, Kane Oliver Parry, Roan Pronk, Gabrielle Davina Smith, Deborah Tracey and Lauren Varnham.

The book of the musical was written by Dennis Kelly,  music and lyrics by Tim Minchin, developed and directed by Matthew Warchus, production is designed by Rob Howell, choreography by Peter Darling, orchestrations, additional music and musical supervision by Christopher Nightingale, lighting by Hugh Vanstone, sound by Simon Baker and special effects and illusions by Paul Kieve.
