Sister Act will run between 10 June and 16 July in Hamburg at First Stage Theatre

The fast-paced nun gospel musical, Sister Act, based on the film of the same title, starring Whoopi Goldberg is enjoying increasing popularity on German theatre stages.

Nightclub singer Deloris van Cartier wants to get to the top: She is convinced that she is destined for the limelight and fame. Her heaven on earth would be a white sequin dress with matching fox fur. Initially, however, the aspiring star's career was limited to the bar of her lover Curtis Shank. But the performances come to an abrupt end when she watches Curtis commit a murder. Hunted as an unwelcome witness, Deloris ends up in a monastery of all places. However, it is threatened with closure due to a lack of believers... everything changes there when Deloris, now Sister Mary Clarence, stirs up the choir! The heavenly sounds in soul and gospel garb attract people in droves. The holy halls are full, and even the Pope announces his interest. So much attention inevitably draws Curtis' minions into action.
