Disenchanted! The all-new musical comedy is coming to Lichfield Garrick

The musical comedy will run from 24th April to 2nd May

Lichfield Garrick swaps style for substance in the professional UK premiere of Disenchanted! —a hilarious new musical extravaganza debunking once-and-for-all the myth of the ‘damsel-in-distress’. Wave goodbye to the traditional beauty obsessed, ditzy, and insecure princess; say hello to our cast of bold, brilliant, young women ready to raise the roof (or smash a few glass ceilings).

Generations of us have had to endure the familiar fairytale trope of a girl whose entire personality rests on the way she looks and her quest to bag a handsome prince to rescue her from her darkest, most horrifying fate of all— Independence. This spring, the Lichfield Garrick introduces you to the plucky Snow White, the disillusioned Cinderella, the unpredictable Sleeping Beauty, the unapologetic Hua Mulan, the ethereal Princess (Who Kissed the Frog), the rebellious Little Mermaid, the authentic Pocahontas, the progressive Rapunzel, the witty Belle, and the misogyny-busting Princess Badroulbadour— all of whom have, frankly, had it up to here (inserts proverbial hand above the head)... now there’s a banquet we’d love to be part of!

Bursting onto the scene with a sell-out run Off Broadway before being performed in five continents, Disenchanted! is the multi-award-nominated brainchild of Dennis T. Giacino(Dramatists Guild of America) and Fiely Matias(Asian American international sketch comedian).

Excitingly, Lichfield Garrick will be home to the UK Professional debut of this show, with Disenchanted! swapping the spires of the Chrysler Building for the Three Spires, giving the people of Lichfield and surrounding areas the first chance to take a bite out of the Big Apple’s latest export. What’s more, the show is also gearing up tour around the UK the following year.

Disenchanted! will make its professional UK theatre debut in the Main Auditorium of the Lichfield Garrick on Friday 24th April and will be running until Saturday 2nd May. With use of strong language, references to self-harmand sexual references, the show comes at an age rating of 14+ (parental discretion is advised). They say girls want nothing more than their Happily Ever After— but in the year 2026, perhaps it’s time we start telling a different tale.
