Andrew Lloyd Webber teased Cats London revival

According to the plans Cats will return in 2026

In an WNYC interview Andrew Lloyd Webber was talking about his recent and upcoming project. During the interview he mentioned the planned revival of Cats at the Regent’s Park Open Air Theatre in coproduction with artistic director Drew McOnie.

Cats is based on T.S. Eliot’s 1939 poetry collection Old Possum’s Book of Practical Cats. Premiering in London in 1981 and on Broadway in 1982, Cats became one of the longest-running musicals in both the West End and Broadway history. The story takes place over one night, during which a tribe of cats called the Jellicles gather for the annual Jellicle Ball. They must decide which one of them will be chosen to ascend to the Heaviside Layer and be reborn.

No official announcement has been made, but hopefully this production will be more than a rumour.
