Beethoven the musical from Michael Kunze and Sylvester Levay

Seoul's newest musical sensation is created by the European musical writer-composer duo.

One of the most anticipated musical premieres of Seoul is a musical about the legendary composer Ludwig van Beethoven.

The writer-composer duo has a strong connection with South Korea, as some of their earlier musicals were running successfully in Seoul in the last decade as Mozart!, Elizabeth, Marie Antoinette and Rebecca. Due to the excellent relationship with the Seoul creatives and audiences, the musical has been created at the request of a Korean musical company. The Beethoven premiere is scheduled for 12 January 2023 at Seoul Arts Center.

In an interview with The Korean Herald, Michael Kunze said “The Beethoven we want to show you is not a hero. He is an average man in his 30s who finds it hard to fit into society,” The story is revolving around his loss of hearing and how love helps him to overcome his depression.
