Cast announced for Rebecca musical English language premiere
Rebecca, the musical by the successful German-language musical composer duo, Michael Kunze and Sylvester Levay is based on Daphne du Mauriers` 1938 book with the same title. Rebecca musical first debuted with a German production in the Raimund Theater in Vienna in 2006 with numerous international productions following in Europe and Asia.
The Charing Cross Theatre cast will be led by Richard Carson (Les Misérables) as Maxim de Winter, Lauren Jones (Bonnie and Clyde) as Second Mrs de Winter & ‘I’, and Kara Lane (The Addams Family – the Musical Comedy) as Mrs Danvers.
Completing the company are Alex James-Ward, Piers Bate, Sarah Harlington, David Breeds, Amanda Minihan, Neil Moors, Nicholas Lumley, Nigel-Joseph Francis, Elliot Swann, Scott McClure, Emily Apps, Melanie Bright, Gail MacKinnon, Tarisha Rommick, James Mateo-Salt and Rosie Glossop.
Rebecca, with 22 original songs, is a gripping thriller full of intrigue and surprises that sticks closely to the original novel. Wealthy Maxim De Winter brings his naïve new wife home to his Cornish estate, Manderley, where the manipulative housekeeper, Mrs. Danvers, resents the new wife’s intrusion.
She persuades her that she is an unworthy replacement for the first Mrs. De Winter, the glamorous and mysterious Rebecca, who perished in a drowning accident, with tragic results…
Rebecca will run at the Charing Cross Theatre from 4 September – 18 November 2023.
