Come Fall in Love – The DDLJ Musical UK premiere cast announced
The musical is based on one of the biggest Indian blockbuster film, Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge
Meet Simran – a young British woman whose future is all set with an arranged marriage back in India – as she sets off around Europe for one last summer of freedom. But getting stranded with laid-back, party-loving Roger isn’t in the guidebook, and now the unlikely pair find that falling in love is just a passport to trouble. Can Roger possibly win over her strict father? Can Simran stay true to her heritage and her heart? Perhaps their different worlds aren’t really so far away...
Directed by Aditya Chopra, director of the original record-breaking film, Come Fall in Love whisks you from Paris and Rome to the stunning yellow mustard fields of Punjab, in a dizzying, colourful new journey set to the exuberant beat of 18 new English songs written especially for the stage.
Jena Pandya as Simran and Ashley Day as Roger will lead the cast joined by Irvine Iqbal as Baldev, Kara Lane as Minky, Harveen Mann-Neary as Lajjo, Amonik Melaco as Ben, Millie O’Connell as Cookie, Ankur Sabharwal as Ajit, Kinshuk Sen as Kuljit, and Russel Wilcox as Rog Sr. Ensemble members are Erica-Jayne Alden, Tash Bacarese-Hamilton, Scarlett Behl, Sophie Camble, Gabrielle Cocca, Rohan Dhupar, Joe Django, Alexander Emery, Kuldeep Goswami, Ella Grant, Yasmin Harrison, Mohit Mathur, Tom Mussell, Purvi Parmar, Saaj Raja, Manu Sarswat, Garrett Tennant, Sonya Venugopal, and swings Emily Goodenough, Marina Lawrence-Mahrra, and Jordan Maisuria-Wake.
Brought to you by an award-winning creative team, Come Fall in Love features book & lyrics by Olivier Award-winning Nell Benjamin (Mean Girls with Tina Fey, Legally Blonde with Laurence O'Keefe), music by legendary composers Vishal Dadlani and Sheykhar Ravjiani, choreography by Olivier, Tony and Emmy Award-winning Rob Ashford (Frozen, Cat on a Hot Tin Roof), associate choreography and Indian dancing by Shruti Merchant (Ladies vs Ricky Bahl, Taj Express) and scenic design by Tony Award-winning Derek Mclane (MJ The Musical and Moulin Rouge! The Musical).
The musical will run at the Manchester Opera House from 29 May to 21 June
