German premiere for Come From Away in Regensburg

Come From Away will celebrate its German-language premiere at the Theater Regensburg at the beginning of 2025.

The award-winning musical by Irene Sankoff and David Hein is based on true events: Immediately after the terrorist attacks on September 11, 2001, several planes were diverted and had to land in Gander, Canada – a total of 7000 passengers were stranded there for 5 days. Since there are hardly any hotel rooms in the small town, the inhabitants took in the involuntary guests. The musical sheds light on the exceptional situation against the backdrop of the attacks and the developing interpersonal bonds between air travellers and residents.

After several tryouts, including at La Jolla Playhouse in San Diego (2015), "Come From Away" was on Broadway from 2017 to 2022 and on the West End from 2019 to 2023.

In Regensburg, the premiere has been announced for 22.2.2025. The film is directed by Sebastian Ritschel. The cast is yet to be confirmed.
