Hadestown is coming to London!

Hadestown is the winner of 8 Tony Awards including Best Musical.

Hadestown will premiere at the West End on 10 February 2024 at the Lyric Theatre. The musical features music, lyrics, and book by Anaïs Mitchell, a Grammy-winning singer-songwriter, and direction by Tony Award-winner Rachel Chavkin.

The musical reimagines a sweeping ancient tale as a timeless allegory for our world.

Hadestown follows two intertwining love stories — that of young dreamers Orpheus and Eurydice, and that of King Hades and his wife Persephone — as it invites audiences on a hell-raising journey to the underworld and back. Mitchell’s beguiling melodies and Chavkin’s poetic imagination pit nature against industry, faith against doubt, and love against fear.

Performed by a vibrant ensemble of actors, dancers and singers, Hadestown delivers a deeply resonant and defiantly hopeful theatrical experience.

Anaïs Mitchell, the show's creator said: "We're all thrilled to be bringing Hadestown back to London! We truly loved our time at the National Theatre in 2018 and felt so welcomed by your city that it feels like a homecoming to be returning (to the West End)!"

The casting for the show is yet to be announced.
