Hadestown: The Musical heads to cinemas with original Broadway cast

The acclaimed musical Hadestown is making the leap from stage to screen with a filmed version of the West End production featuring the original Broadway principal cast. The highly anticipated release will bring Anaïs Mitchell’s Tony Award-winning musical to cinema audiences in North America and the United Kingdom during 2026.
Hadestown: The Musical, a live-capture film of the celebrated stage production, is set to reach cinema audiences in 2026. Filmed during a special West End engagement in London, the production reunites the original Broadway principal cast, giving fans a rare opportunity to experience the award-winning musical on the big screen. The film was recorded across performances in 2025 and preserves the acclaimed staging created by director Rachel Chavkin and songwriter Anaïs Mitchell.
The cast includes Reeve Carney as Orpheus, Eva Noblezada as Eurydice, André De Shields as Hermes, Amber Gray as Persephone, and Patrick Page as Hades. Together, they originated the roles that helped make Hadestown one of the most celebrated musicals of the past decade.
The story intertwines the Greek myths of Orpheus and Eurydice with those of Hades and Persephone, blending folk, jazz, blues, and New Orleans-inspired music into a modern theatrical experience.
Hadestown: The Musical is scheduled for release in North American cinemas on 24 July 2026. In the United Kingdom, the film is expected to arrive in cinemas in October 2026, with further details to be announced. The official trailer was released in June 2026, offering audiences a first look at the cinematic adaptation.
