Is Disney’s The Hunchback of Notre Dame live action back on track?
Looks like the new live-action movie will be released in 2025
Disney originally planned a 2024 release, which was pushed back and according to rumours, the release will be likely in 2025. It is unclear if this will be a movie release or a Disney+ release.
The live-action will follow the storyline of the animated 1996 Disney original. This was an adaptation of Victor Hugo’s novel Notre Dame de Paris.
Quasimodo, the hunchbacked of Notre Dame lives in the bell tower of Notre Dame and dreams about being a part of society. However, as he is an outcast, the wicked priest Frollo has his ways of keeping him from achieving his dreams.
The Hunchback of Notre Dame has a darker tone than the usual Disney stories. A possible cause of the delay is the difficulty of adapting the story for a family-friendly audience.
