& Juliet Broadway to Close in January 2027

The hit Broadway musical & Juliet, featuring the music of Max Martin, will close in New York in January 2027 after more than four years on Broadway.

The Tony Award-nominated musical & Juliet has announced its Broadway closing date. The production will play its final performance on 3 January 2027, bringing its successful run at the Stephen Sondheim Theatre to an end.

Inspired by William Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet, & Juliet turns the classic tragedy on its head by asking a simple question: what if Juliet didn’t end her story with Romeo? Instead, she gets a second chance to discover herself, find her independence and write her own ending.

The musical features a hugely popular score of songs written or produced by Swedish hitmaker Max Martin, including Since U Been Gone, Oops!... I Did It Again, Everybody (Backstreet’s Back), Roar, Baby One More Time and I Want It That Way.

With a book by David West Read, direction by Luke Sheppard and choreography by Jennifer Weber, & Juliet first premiered in London before transferring to Broadway, where it opened in November 2022.

The Broadway production received nine Tony Award nominations, including Best Musical, and established itself as one of the most successful new musicals of the 2020s.

Although & Juliet Broadway is coming to an end, the musical's international journey continues. The show has already enjoyed productions and performances outside New York, following its original success in London's West End.

For fans hoping to see the Broadway production, the final performance of & Juliet will take place at the Stephen Sondheim Theatre on 3 January 2027.
