Just For One Day: The Live Aid Musical embarks on tour

The musical is running at the Shaftesbury Theatre until 7th February before starts its tour on 31st March at Leicester’s Curve

Just For One Day – The Live Aid Musical tells the behind-the-scenes story of how Live Aid came together on 13 July 1985, when concerts in London and Philadelphia were broadcast to an estimated 1.5 billion people worldwide.

Olivier-nominated and critically acclaimed, the musical captures the urgency, energy and humanity of that moment, celebrating the power of live music to unite people and drive real change – then and now.

Featuring iconic songs by artists who appeared at Live Aid – including Bob Dylan, David Bowie, The Who, U2, Queen, Madonna, The Police, Elton John, Paul McCartney and Diana Ross – the score is performed by an electrifying ensemble and reimagined in a bold, contemporary way.

The production has been praised for its emotional impact and exhilaration, sending audiences out “with a grin on their face” (WhatsOnStage) and leaving them in a state of “sheer euphoria” (Rolling Stone).

At its heart, the musical explores how Bob Geldof steered Live Aid to success against the odds, and why the message of that day still resonates. It introduces the Live Aid story to new generations while honouring its original purpose – great music for a great cause.

Bob Geldof said “Just For One Day brilliantly reimagines why Live Aid worked then and why the humanity of that day still matters now. I’m delighted that more of the UK and Ireland will finally get to see this extraordinary and compelling musical. The reaction the show gets continually surprises and amazes me, standing ovations and people come back time and again, introducing the Live Aid story to new generations.”

By permission of The Band Aid Charitable Trust, the production donates 10% of all ticket sales directly to the charity, with £1.5 million raised to date.
