Something Rotten! UK premiere has been announced
Venue and premiere date are yet to be announced
The musical Something Rotten!, a comedy sensation from 2015, tells the story of the Bottom Brothers, who try to make a career on the theatre stage in 159. Unfortunately, they run straight into the hugely popular Shakespeare, so their chances in show business do not look too optimistic…
The staged concert version at the Theatre Royal Drury Lane in 2024 was a massive success, starring Jason Manford as Nick Bottom, Gary Wilmot as Nostradamus and Marisha Wallace as Bea. After this success, Broadway producers, Kevin McCollum and Joshua Andrews decided to bring a staged version of the musical to a UK stage.
Producers Kevin McCollum and Joshua Andrews said: “After the success of the Broadway run and American tour and the incredible response to the Drury Lane concerts we are excited to bring the show to the land of Shakespeare!”
One of the most iconic songs of Something Rotten! was performed on the Big Night of Musicals by Jason Manford, which is airing today on BBC One at 6:50pm and will be available on BBC iPlayer later.
