Spring Awakening UK cinema release has been announced

Venues and cinemas will be confirmed in November

The Almeida’s stellar production of Spring Awakening is to be shown in cinemas.

Following its critically acclaimed run at the Almeida Theatre, the Olivier and Tony Award-winning musical is screened in cinemas across the UK this November.

Set to one of the most loved scores of the 21st century, Spring Awakening tells a story of adolescent anarchy. A group of teenagers – silenced and controlled by a censorious society – discover a new world of feeling and freedom outside the classroom, with beautiful and devastating consequences.

On the recording, Laurie Kynaston appears as Melchior, Amara Okereke as Wendle, Nathan Armarkwei-Laryea as Hanschen, Asha Banks as Thea, Taylor Bradshaw ensemble, Catherine Cusack all the adult women, Carly-Sophia Davies as Ilse, Kit Esuruoso as Otto, Mark Lockyer all the adult men, Bella Maclean as Martha, Emily Ooi as ensemble, Joe Pitts as Georg, Maia Tamrakar as Anna, Stuart Thompson as Moritz and Zheng Xi Yong as Ernst.

The director of the show is Rupert Goold, choreographer Lynne Page, design by Miriam Buether, costumes by Nicky Gillibrand, lighting by Jack Knowles, sound by Tony Gayle, orchestrations by Sheik and Simon Hale and musical direction by Jo Cichonska. Casting is by Pippa Ailion CDG and Natalie Gallacher CDG.
