The legendary Regent`s Park Jesus Christ Superstar will embark on a UK tour!
This production of Andrew Lloyd Webber`s Jesus Christ Superstar premiered at the Regent`s Park Open Air Theatre in 2016 and 2017. Later it was staged at the Barbican in 2019 and a socially distanced concert version returned to the Regent`s Park Open Air Theatre in 2020
Timothy Sheader (Crazy for You, Into the Woods) directs this mesmerizing new production of the iconic global phenomenon, JESUS CHRIST SUPERSTAR which tours the UK from September 2023. Reimagined by Regent’s Park Open Air Theatre, it won the 2017 Olivier Award for Best Musical Revival, garnering unprecedented reviews and accolades.
Featuring lyrics and music by Emmy, GRAMMY, Oscar and Tony winners Tim Rice and Andrew Lloyd Webber, and with choreography by Drew McOnie (King Kong, Strictly Ballroom), JESUS CHRIST SUPERSTAR is set against the backdrop of an extraordinary series of events during the final weeks in the life of Jesus Christ, as seen through the eyes of Judas. Reflecting the rock roots that defined a generation, the legendary score includes ‘I Don’t Know How to Love Him’, ‘Gethsemane’ and ‘Superstar’.
The UK tour will launch at Manchester's Palace Theatre from 11 September 2023 and will visit Newcastle, Hull, Aberdeen, Glasgow, Liverpool, Milton Keynes, Plymouth, Wolverhampton, Bradford, Nottingham, Ipswich, Cardiff, Edinburgh, Leicester, Stoke, Bristol, Crawley, Southampton, Norwich, Eastbourne, Birmingham, Oxford, Wimbledon, Woking, Sunderland, Canterbury, Sheffield, Llandudno, Torquay, Dartford, Cheltenham and Blackpool.
