How far would you go to live your dream? The ambitious but unsuccessful actor Michael Dorsey is about to end his career - in the industry he is considered complicated and stubborn. When no one wants to give him a role anymore, he resorts to a daring trick: He disguises himself as a woman, calls himself Dorothy Michaels - and overnight becomes the star of a new musical version of "Romeo and Juliet". But with the success the chaos begins. Between costume and corset, Michael loses himself in his double role, while Dorothy takes the audience - and her colleagues - by storm. When he finally falls in love with his stage partner Julie, the artfully spun web of lies threatens to tear apart.

TOOTSIE is a fast-paced, intelligent and heartwarming comedy about love, deception and the search for one's own self. With wit, speed and a keen sense of social issues, she tells how a man learns to see the world - and women - with new eyes.

The original, Sydney Pollack's legendary film from 1982, gave Dustin Hoffman one of his greatest roles and Jessica Lange the Oscar for Best Supporting Actress. The musical adaptation by David Yazbek ("The Band's Visit") and Robert Horn celebrated triumphant success on Broadway in 2019, won several Tony Awards - including for best book in a musical - and thrilled audiences and critics alike with humor, heart and keen powers of observation. A musical full of transformation, wit and truthfulness - and the story of a man who becomes a better person because he is a woman.

The cast is led by Diminik Hees by Michael Dorsey / Dorothy Michaels joined by Clara Mills-Karzel as Julie Nichols, Sebastian Brummer as Jeff Slater, Missy May as Sandy Lester, Franz Frickel as Ron Carlisle, Clemens Otto Bauer as Max van Horn, Marika Lichter as Rita Marshall, Martin Berger as Stan Fields and the orchestra, choir and dance ensemble of the Baden stage.

Tootsie has music and lyrics by David Yazbek, book by Robert Horn, the show is based on the story by Don McGuire and Larry Gelbart and the Columbia Pictures film, produced by Punch Productions, starring Dustin Hoffman. German by Roman Hinze. Musical director Victor Petrov, staging by Felix Seiler, choreography by Daniel Costello, stage by Darko Petrovic and costumes by Aleš Valášek.
