Wicked cast announcements for 2024
New cast announcements for the London run at Apollo Victoria Theatre has been made
From 12 March 2024, Michael Fenton Stevens (Yes, Prime Minister) will join the cast as The Wizard, with Graham Kent (Girl from the North Country, Miss Saigon) as Doctor Dillamond, and Laura Harrison (Sunset Boulevard) will return to the show as the standby for Elphaba.
Departing the show are Mark Curry (The Wizard), Steven Pinder (Doctor Dillamond), Amy Webb (Standby for Elphaba), Yuki Abe, Kofi Aidoo-Appiah, Fergus Dale, Nicola Espallardo, Danny Fogarty, Ross Harmon, Harry Mills, Daniel Parrott, Christine Tucker, and Jaydon Vijn.
Staying with the company Alexia Khadime as Elphaba, Lucy St. Louis as Glinda, Ryan Reid as Fiyero, Sophie-Louise Dann as Madame Morrible, Caitlin Anderson as Nessarose, Joe Thompson-Oubari as Boq and Lisa-Anne Wood as standby for Glinda.
New ensemble members are Jeremy Batt, Felipe Bejarano, Asmara Cammock, Aimee Hodnett, Darnell Mathew-James, Ayden Morgan, Rishard-Kyro Nelson, Aston Neman Hannington, Charlotte Anne Steen, and Jacob Young.
Continuing ensemble members are Conor Ashman, Jessica Aubrey, Joshua Clemetson, Effie Rae Dyson, Kate Leiper, Jemima Loddy, Joshua Lovell, Rory Maguire, PaddyJoe Martin, Millie Mayhew, Aiesha Naomi Pease, Jeanie Ryan, Natalie Spriggs, James Titchener, Micaela Todd, and Taela Yeomans-Brown
Wicked is soon to start its UK tour, opening at the Edinburgh Playhouse on 7 December 2023 and visiting Bristol Hippodrome, Birmingham Hippodrome, Bradford Alhambra Theatre, Southampton Mayflower Theatre, Liverpool Empire, Dublin Bord Gáis Energy Theatre, Sunderland Empire, Cardiff Wales Millennium Centre, and Manchester Palace Theatre during the tour.
Wicked tells the incredible story of an unlikely but profound friendship between two young women: the blond and very popular Glinda and a misunderstood green girl named Elphaba. Following an encounter with the Wonderful Wizard, their friendship reaches a crossroads, and their lives take very different paths. Glinda`s unflinching desire for popularity sees her seduced by power, while Elphaba`s determination to remain true to herself, and to those around her, will have unexpected and shocking consequences on her future. Their extraordinary adventures in Oz will ultimately see them fulfil their destinies as Glinda the Good and Elphaba the Wicked Witch of the West.
Wicked is based on the novel by Gregory Maguire ‘Wicked: The Life and Times of the Wicked Witch of the West’. The musical is written by Emmy and Tony Award nominee Winnie Holzman, music, and lyrics Stephen Schwartz. Musical staging is by Wayne Cilento with direction by Joe Mantello.
