Anything Goes at Lower Saxony State Theatre Hanover

The musical will premiere on 28th November
"When the poor brain is cracking, there's nothing like packing a suitcase and sailing away."
Large cruise ships are meeting places and holiday destinations, air polluters and luxury status symbols at the same time. The transatlantic barge named "MS America" in Cole Porter's hit musical Anything Goes also appears as a vanishing point, as a place of submersion.
So the young stockbroker Billy Crocker sneaks on board the ocean liner as a stowaway. He has fallen madly in love with the naïve young Hope Harcourt, who sails from New York to London with her (always worried) mother. Also on board: Hope's actual fiancé, Lord Oakleigh, a snob from an English family. Billy is supported in his plan to conquer Hope by the crook Moonface Martin, who in turn has gone into hiding in the invisibility cloak of a priest on board. Always confident and relaxed: Reno Sweeney, nightclub dancer and sex saint. And then there's Elisha Whitney, an aging (and alcohol-loving) romantic who has his sights set on Hope Harcourt's mother. At the same time, Whitney is the boss of the stressed Billy Crocker ...
In milliseconds, emotional states, hiding places and disguises change! In addition, Cole Porter's unforgettable hits like the eponymous Anything Goes or I Get a Kick Out of You haunted us through the evening. Moral of the story: There is no morality! When life gets crazy, just put on your (tap) dancing shoes, let the ship sail and sing for all it's worth! Everything flows. Everyone dances. Nothing works anymore. But anything goes!
